The Mail page of the Options window lets you change the settings Caller ID uses for sending mail. These settings are used for the sendmail command, which is available from Easy Actions and Advanced Actions.
The settings are:
Outgoing mail server (SMTP)
Specifies the mail server to use when sending an email message from a script. If this is not specified, the sendmail script command will not work.
Port
Specifies the network port number on which the mail server accepts connections. 25 is the default (and usual) value.
Authentication
Specifies whether the mail server requires authentication.
Account
Specifies the username for the mail server. This is only available if Authentication is set to "Simple Login".
Password
Specifies the password for the mail server. This is only available if Authentication is set to "Simple Login".
Log on to incoming mail server before sending mail
When checked, Ascendis Caller ID tries to log on to an incoming mail server (POP3) with the same address as the Outgoing mail server before sending mail. Some ISPs require this for authentication.
Note for AOL users: try using "smtp.aol.com" for Outgoing mail server (SMTP), and 587 for Port. For more information about using AOL with standard internet mail programs, see http://about.aol.com/faq/openmailaccess.
The OK button saves any changes you made to the settings and closes the window. The Cancel button closes the window without saving changes. The Help button brings up this topic in the help file.
