Ascendis Caller ID is licensed per phone line being monitored. Most users only monitor a single phone line and therefore only need to purchase one copy. However, if you monitor (or want to monitor) two or more phone lines, you must buy additional copies of Ascendis Caller ID. There is no difference between buying the initial and subsequent copies; all work the same.
Additional registrations can be added using the Paste Registration command, or the Registration Manager.
Why license per phone line?
Most programs are licensed per computer. So, if you want to run a program on two computers, you have to purchase two copies. One of the cool features of Ascendis Caller ID is the networking capability. In order to take advantage of it, you have to run Ascendis Caller ID on more than one computer. We decided on this alternate licensing scheme to encourage Ascendis Caller ID networking. For most users, this requires buying fewer copies of Ascendis Caller ID.
