Ascendis Caller ID supports the voices included with Windows 2000 and Windows XP. It also supports compatible voices, or those compatible with SAPI4 and SAPI5.

Technical Details
Ascendis Caller ID uses Microsoft's Speech APIs for speech synthesis. Specifically, it supports both SAPI4 and SAPI5. SAPI4 works in Windows 95 and Windows 98 but must be installed manually. SAPI4 is included in the special Ascendis Caller ID installer located at

SAPI4 is included with Windows 2000 and no special installer is needed. Windows XP comes with SAPI5 support, but not SAPI4. It may be possible to install SAPI4 in Windows XP, but we don't recommend it. (The Ascendis Caller ID installer with SAPI4 will not install the speech libraries under Windows 2000 or Windows XP.)
Windows XP comes with a single voice ("Microsoft Sam") for text-to-speech. It's not great, but it works.
